The Afterwork tailor suit in double gauze Atelier Brunette
In my latest book " Party Dressing ", I offer you a pantsuit pattern. In the book, it is presented in a pure red wool crepe.
For my personal version, I chose to sew it in black Stardust cotton gauze from Atelier Brunette . The idea was to get a fairly classic look twisted by the gold polka dots embroidered on this fabric. I love the combination of black and gold, this fabric is a real favorite!
The Afterwork sewing pattern from my latest book " Dressing de Fête " includes a tailored jacket and pants. The jacket has a structured and fitted design for a feminine and modern cut with its thin tailored collar and single buttoning. It is fully lined. This is a sewing project that will allow you to learn new techniques and familiarize yourself with the work of tailors, even if I have simplified some steps to make this project accessible.
The pants are much simpler. They are fitted without being tight, 7/8 length. Their belt is flat on the front and elasticated in the back for a lot of comfort ;) They close with 4 buttons on the side, the opportunity to add another little touch of gold.
The choice of using cotton gauze to sew a trouser suit is quite original. When I told you about my project on Instagram , many of you were intrigued. I must admit that it was a real experiment for me, but getting out of your comfort zone is very rewarding in sewing.
Atelier Brunette cotton gauze has the advantage of being smooth and not embossed as we usually see. This is much better to avoid the total pajama look, but also for the structure of the jacket because it is entirely interlined with iron-on (except the sleeves).
I am very happy with this choice, even if let's be honest, it is not the piece of my handmade wardrobe that I will wear every day. I am thinking about how to combine the jacket and pants with other pieces of my wardrobe so that I can wear them separately.
Throughout the making of my pantsuit, I invited you to follow me in Instagram story. You really liked following these sewing adventures, I thank you for all your messages. Find all the stories in the Youtube video below.
