Transform the "Camisole" pattern into a top

Sew a Camisole with the Customizable Pattern using the Tutorial on Charlotte Auzou's Blog

Offering you multiple uses for your patterns is my favorite thing. With customizable patterns , you can imagine dresses, jumpsuits, skirts, pants, etc.

But that's not all! With simple pattern modifications, you can also imagine small tops that will be perfect for sewing your scraps and small pieces of fabric.

After hacking the Marcel Tank Top , today I suggest you hack the Caraco pattern to sew your next little summer top ☀️

Supplies

55 cm of main fabric in 140 cm width
55 cm of lining fabric in 140 cm width
straight-grain ribbon and iron-on bias

The boss

To make this tutorial, you must purchase the Caraco customizable pattern.

The changes will affect the front and back pieces of Version C, namely the bloused front and bloused back.

Choose the size that corresponds to your chest size. You can work on the patterns with margins included.

Extend the center front and center back down 13 cm, from the waistline corresponding to your height. For the center back, start the tracing at the top of the pattern. The tracing is parallel to the arrow on the straight grain.

Then draw the hem line perpendicular to the center front, and another perpendicular to the center back. To determine their lengths, do the following calculation:

"Small chest" patterns

Front length = (hip measurement + ease (10 cm)) / 4 + 1 cm + 1 cm seam allowances
Back length = (hip circumference + ease (10 cm)) / 4 - 1 cm + 1 cm seam allowances

For example, for a hip measurement of 98 cm.
Front length = (98+10) /4 + 1 + 1 = 29 cm
Back length = (98+10) /4 - 1 + 1 = 27 cm

"Large chest" patterns

Front length = (hip measurement + ease (10 cm)) / 4 + 2 cm + 1 cm seam allowance
Back length = (hip measurement + ease (10 cm)) / 4 - 2 cm + 1 cm seam allowance

For example, for a hip measurement of 98 cm.
Front length = (98+10) /4 + 2 + 1 = 30 cm
Back length = (98+10) /4 - 2 + 1 = 26 cm

Trace the sides of the pattern by connecting the hem line under the dart for the front and at the armhole for the back.

In the middle of the back, remove the 1 cm seam allowance so that you can cut this piece on the fold.

Sewing

Here are the adaptations to be made in relation to the instruction booklet.

• The back is to be cut at the fold.
• Remove the invisible zip.
• Double your Caraco top for a beautiful finish.
• Shorten the lining by a few centimeters before sewing the hem.

Happy customizing and happy sewing!
